Music, exercise, and meditation will calm your anxious heart and clear your mind. Playing or listening to relaxing music will help return you to a mellow place following the alert status created by anxiety. Relaxing music includes things like Hawaiian slack key guitar (especially Keola Beamer), sounds of the harp, and the Brainwave Music System. Many classical pieces are also experienced as relaxing. Listen and let your fears subside. Exercise helps produce calming, and has the added bonus of generating chemical transmitter substances (e.g. endorphins) that make us feel happier. And, for those of you who want to stay fit and feisty, exercise can help with that too. Meditation helps the body relax and return to a state of calmness, clarity, and happiness. Guided visualization meditation is especially helpful for anxiety, since it requires us to focus on the speaker rather than our anxiety-producing thoughts. Here is a song I wrote and recorded that I find relaxing, Regret Nostalgique Do you find it relaxing too? What music helps you mellow out? Music, exercise, and meditation will calm your anxious heart and clear your mind.
