Health and happiness improve when you spend 20 minutes outside on good weather days. A recent study revealed that spending 20 minutes with nature can not only improve your mood, but it can also broaden thinking and improve working memory. This is consistent with other findings which suggest that positive thoughts and emotions broaden our repertoire of available thoughts, perceived possibilities, and creativity; as well as enhancing our ability to learn and remember new skills. Most people can squeeze 20 minutes into an already busy day if they really try. If you look for opportunities, such as right when you get up, during your lunch hour, immediately after work, after the kids go to bed, or just before lights out; you will probably find the time. Since meditation is perhaps the most important ingredient in health and happiness, maybe you could even meditate out in the sun or under the stars?
